[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card announced on the 3rd that it has launched the industry's first art in-house venture and will hold an 'Art Fair' as its first project. 'The Preview Hannam with Shinhan Card,' scheduled to be held in June, will be led by Artplus (Art+), selected as the 6th batch of I'm Ventures, Shinhan Card's in-house venture.

Artplus views the art market as a niche market due to the increase in purchases of home interior artworks influenced by COVID-19 and the rapid growth of art trading as a hobby and investment method, pioneering a new business connecting the two fields of cards and art.

This art fair will be held at NEMO Hall in Blue Square, Hannam-dong, sponsored by Shinhan Card, over two sessions in June (June 9?13 and June 16?20).

In particular, this art fair aims to discover and nurture emerging artists and galleries, focusing on fostering artists, which aligns with Shinhan Financial Group's ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy to realize the value of coexistence. It will not only exhibit and sell works from about 30 selected galleries and 60 artists but also produce collaborative goods leveraging Shinhan Card's brand power to provide more opportunities for emerging artists. Additionally, it has planned a special exhibition of works by artists with disabilities in connection with Shinhan Bank's Mecenat facility, Shinhan Gallery's exhibition sponsorship project.

Artplus is also preparing 'My Art Flex,' an online art platform that connects sellers and buyers as a secondary market for artworks. This platform will open an Art Flex space to share and showcase collections and exhibition information, including direct transactions of collections, and will feature competitive content such as expert classes and lectures.

After launching, the strategy is to expand the business model by linking with Shinhan Card's business areas, including precise recommendations and management based on digital technology utilizing Shinhan Card's big data capabilities, adding payment modules, and point accumulation and usage.

Moon Dong-kwon, Head of Shinhan Card's Management Planning Group, said, "This art fair signifies a new attempt to connect the fields of finance and art with the challenging spirit of an in-house venture," adding, "We will strengthen Shinhan Card's unique competitiveness by discovering new ideas that will be future growth engines through the activation of in-house ventures and spreading a creative organizational culture."
