[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Himchan (real name Kim Himchan), a member of the idol group B.A.P, who was prosecuted on charges of sexual harassment, was sentenced to imprisonment in the first trial.
On the 24th, Judge Jung Sungwan of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 14 sentenced Himchan to 10 months in prison and ordered him to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program. However, considering the possibility of reaching a settlement with the victim during the appeal trial, he was not detained in court.
Himchan was prosecuted on charges of forcibly sexually harassing a woman in her 20s, Ms. A, at a pension in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, in the early morning of July 24, 2018. B.A.P, which debuted in 2012, effectively disbanded after two members left in August 2018 and the exclusive contracts of the remaining members with their agency ended the following year.
