Emart Offers 50% Discount on Daily Necessities... Moves to Stabilize Grocery Prices

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Emart is offering discounts on daily necessities to welcome the New Year.

Emart announced on the 30th that starting from January 1st, the first day of the New Year, it will hold an event offering up to 50% off on daily necessities and food items. With the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic making home dining more common, this event aims to reduce the increased burden on shoppers' baskets.

For three days from January 1st, about 40 daily necessities will be sold at half price. During the event, customers can enjoy 1+1 promotions on various essential household items such as kitchen detergents, LG Household & Health Care laundry detergents and fabric softeners, hair treatments, Oral-B electric toothbrushes for adults and kids, diapers, and baby skincare/detergents. There will also be one-day-only product deals: on the 1st, LG double-door refrigerators and No Brand 80cm TVs; on the 2nd, Electroman 163cm TVs; and on the 3rd, Samsung 16kg dryers will be sold at special prices.

Fresh food items will also be offered at unprecedented prices. Until January 6th, all Korean beef products will be discounted by 30%. Antibiotic-free chicken for stir-fry (1kg) will be priced at 5,580 won, and domestic live sea and freshwater eels will be sold at a 40% discount when using Shinsegae points. Jeju Island’s sweetness-selected tangerines (4kg) will be available for 8,980 won, Imat rice (10kg) for 27,900 won, and Shine Muscat grapes (1.5kg) for 19,900 won.

There is also a National Price discount event. The National Price project is Emart’s initiative to lower prices on essential daily items to help households manage their budgets, focusing on products that significantly impact customers’ shopping expenses. Recognizing that National Price products are essential daily necessities, Emart plans to extend the event period until January 27th.

Key items include Bodyfit contoured sanitary pads 1+1 for 8,900 won, On The Body perfume body wash 1+1 for 5,900 won, Peacock 6-year-old red ginseng extract plus at a 30% discount when purchased with event cards for 69,300 won, and Pulmuone Katsuobushi Udon (924g) for 5,980 won.
