LG Electronics Unveils Dual Inverter Heat Pump Water Heater

On the 18th, LG Electronics unveiled a dual inverter heat pump water heater that quickly heats water while saving energy. This product was recognized for its differentiated technology and received the 'CES Innovation Award (CES 2021 Innovation Award)' from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which annually honors innovative products ahead of the world's largest IT exhibition, CES.

[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] LG Electronics unveiled a dual inverter heat pump water heater on the 18th that heats water quickly while saving energy.

The dual inverter heat pump method adopted in the new product uses condensation heat generated during the process of compressing and circulating refrigerant to heat water, resulting in high energy efficiency. For the new product with a capacity of 270 liters, it saves up to 74% more energy compared to conventional water heaters that directly heat the water tank using electricity.

The dual inverter heat pump is the core technology of Tromm dryers, which have driven the rapid growth of the domestic dryer market. The dual inverter compressor, which has two cylinders compressing the refrigerant, enhances product performance and energy efficiency compared to general compressors.

Unlike most heat pump water heaters on the market that adopt fixed-speed compressors, LG Electronics’ differentiated inverter technology is also an advantage. Inverter technology, unlike fixed-speed types, freely adjusts the compressor speed to improve energy efficiency.

The new product comes in two capacities: 200 liters and 270 liters. It also includes an auxiliary heater that heats water to prevent running out of hot water even when the usual hot water usage is higher.

Unlike the domestic market where boilers are common, many customers overseas in Europe, North America, and other regions use electric water heaters. LG Electronics plans to sequentially launch the new product in Europe, including France, Germany, and Italy, as well as in North America starting from the first quarter of next year.

This product was recognized for its differentiated technology and received the CES Innovation Award 2021 from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which annually honors innovative products.

The clean and sophisticated design won both the world-renowned Red Dot Award and the iF Design Award.

With wireless internet (Wi-Fi) capability, customers can remotely monitor and control the product’s status through LG ThinQ app on their smartphones.
