[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Drink International, the seller of the whiskey 'Imperial,' is entering the domestic sparkling wine market through its subsidiary Interliquor. Drink International established Interliquor for the purpose of importing premium wines and distilled spirits.

On the 9th, Interliquor announced that it signed an exclusive supply contract with the globally renowned Italian sparkling wine company 'Carpeni Malvolti.' Carpeni Malvolti sparkling wine will be imported into the domestic market for the first time. Sales are scheduled to begin next month.

Carpeni Malvolti was established in 1868. It is known as the origin of the world-famous sparkling wine Prosecco. Prosecco refers to white wine produced in nine northeastern provinces near Venice, Italy. The name is derived from a village in that region. Interliquor introduced that Carpeni Malvolti Prosecco, with its 150-year history, is currently considered one of the best Proseccos in the world. Records from the 18th century ledgers confirm that Antonio Carpeni, who founded Carpeni Malvolti, was the first to introduce Prosecco. It is described as the first winery to produce Prosecco sparkling wine and label it accordingly.

The tradition of wine production at Carpeni Malvolti has been continued by the fifth generation of the family, Rosanna Carpeni. They sell a variety of products including Prosecco, brandy, grappa, and ros? sparkling wine in more than 60 countries worldwide.

Kim Tae-ho, CEO of Interliquor, said, "It is an honor to launch the Carpeni Malvolti brand, which has a long history and has maintained family management over five generations, in the Korean market," adding, "We will be able to appeal to Korean consumers the excellence of Carpeni Malvolti products."
