[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Lee Hee-joon highly praised Seo Hyun-woo.
On the 3rd, Lee Hee-joon shared various stories about the movie Oh! Moon-hee (director Jung Se-gyo) during a non-face-to-face online interview.
Oh! Moon-hee is a rural investigation comedy about a mother, Moon-hee, the only witness to a hit-and-run accident, and her reckless son Doo-won, who fearlessly pursue the culprit. The film offers cheerful laughter and warm emotions through the unpredictable investigation of this mother and son duo, unlike anything seen before. Lee Hee-joon plays Doo-won, the impulsive son full of humanity.
Previously, Lee Hee-joon delivered a powerful performance as Kwak Sang-cheon, the head of security, opposing Lee Byung-hun in Secret Zoo (director Woo Min-ho), released in January. In Oh! Moon-hee, he reveals another side as a simple and sincere son and father.
Lee Hee-joon shared his thoughts on the film, saying, "I started filming after losing some weight following the shoot of Secret Zoo. I learned the Chungcheong-do dialect, which I had hardly ever used, wanting to speak like a local. I wanted to look more like a Chungcheong-do native, but I felt a bit disappointed."
When asked if there is a junior actor he has been paying attention to recently, Lee Hee-joon picked Seo Hyun-woo, who gave an impressive performance as General Jeon Doo-hyuk in Secret Zoo. Seo Hyun-woo gained weight and even shaved his head to realistically portray the role. Audiences who watched the film even reacted by asking, "Who is Jeon Doo-hyuk?" Currently, Seo Hyun-woo is showing a new side and potential as reporter Kim Moo-jin in the tvN drama Flower of Evil.
Lee Hee-joon said, "I have been paying close attention to Seo Hyun-woo, who played General Jeon. He is also a junior from Korea National University of Arts. I was surprised during the filming of Secret Zoo. Although he had only a few lines, he did really well," and praised him, adding, "We will meet again in future projects."
Regarding his motherly co-star Na Moon-hee, Lee Hee-joon said, "She is the type who immediately shares her thoughts during practice and rehearsals. Such seniors are comfortable to work with. She would advise me, 'Hee-joon, try doing it a bit more deliciously.' But since I couldn’t express it well, I ended up doing 'Eomni' (Mom) dozens of times. It wasn’t uncomfortable."
He continued, "Until the end, I tried hard to listen to the teacher’s words and apply them. It would have been great if it worked perfectly at once, but since it didn’t, I felt a bit frustrated. I decided to do as much as I could by listening to her advice and finished comfortably."
Oh! Moon-hee was released on the 2nd.
