Samsung Cheongjeong Station Recognized for Fine Dust Emission Blocking Performance by German and UK Certification Bodies

A Samsung Electronics model is introducing the 2020 premium wireless vacuum cleaner "Samsung Jet," which received SLG and BAF certifications, along with the "Clean Station," which allows easy management of the dustbin without worrying about fine dust, at the Samsung Digital Plaza Gangnam Main Store.

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Samsung Electronics announced on the 3rd that its dust discharge system, the Clean Station, recently received recognition for its performance in blocking fine dust and allergy-causing substance emissions from the German testing and certification body SLG (Schubert Leiter Geratesicherheit) and the British Allergy Foundation (BAF).

The Clean Station is a dust discharge system that applies Samsung's proprietary 'Air Pulse' technology, allowing the dustbin of Samsung's wireless vacuum cleaner Jet to be emptied easily. The Air Pulse controls the motor inlet to create an air pressure difference, and the resulting airflow effectively removes dust inside the dustbin.

In the SLG test, the Clean Station blocked 99.999% of fine dust particles sized 0.3 to 10 micrometers (㎛), earning the highest grade of 5 stars (Excellent) for 'Dust Retaining Capability' certification.

Additionally, the Clean Station obtained the ‘BAF certification,’ awarded to products that help improve allergy-related conditions such as rhinitis, asthma, and atopic dermatitis, proving its performance in blocking emissions of allergy-causing substances like house dust mites, dog and cat hair, and pollen.

The core technology of the Clean Station’s five-layer purification system consists of ▲a dust bag that filters large dust particles ▲a motor filter made of nonwoven fabric that effectively collects dust ▲a deodorizing filter applying activated carbon to remove odors ▲a sound-absorbing filter that reduces noise and filters small dust particles ▲and a high-performance filter that blocks 99.999% of fine particles sized 0.3 to 10㎛.

Moreover, the Clean Station reduces dust scattering by up to 400 times when emptying the dustbin. Samsung Jet has also been certified by SLG and BAF for its performance in blocking fine dust and allergy-causing substance emissions. Samsung Electronics explained that, fueled by the popularity of the Clean Station, cumulative sales until last month have increased more than threefold compared to the same period last year.

Jung Yoo-jin, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Home Appliance Business Division, said, “Samsung Jet and the Clean Station are products created with consumers’ health and hygiene in mind throughout the entire cleaning process,” adding, “We will continue to introduce technologies and products to create a clean and comfortable indoor environment.”
