[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Singer Shin Sung-hoon confessed his past, saying he grew up in an orphanage during his childhood.

On the 20th, the KBS current affairs and culture program 'Morning Yard' featured singers Shin Sung-hoon, Park Kyung-hoon, Hong Ji-ho, Kim Sung-beom, and Mo Jeong-ae in the 'Challenge Dream Stage' segment.

In the broadcast, Shin Sung-hoon said, "I was abandoned by my parents right after birth and grew up in an orphanage. I felt lonely from a young age," adding, "What helped me endure the difficult life in the orphanage was music."

He continued, "While living in the orphanage, when I was in the 5th grade of elementary school, a sponsor came to the orphanage and formed a bond with me. I was happy spending vacations at the sponsor's home," and added, "It felt like a dream, and I wished time would stop."

He further explained, "When I was in middle school, I moved to Seoul to become a singer, passed an audition, and debuted as an idol singer, which caused the connection with my sponsor to be cut off," and said, "Then in 2009, I appeared on 'Morning Yard - Family Sings' and reconnected with the sponsor who supported me during my childhood, and was officially adopted."

He confessed, "After that, I spent 18 years as an unknown singer. In 2018, I went to Japan and sang," adding, "I reached number one on the Oricon chart. However, I went through tough times singing at karaoke, live cafes, pubs, and on the streets."

He also revealed, "The family who supported me treated me very well. I want to succeed and show filial piety to my mother and brothers."
