Kim Hee-ae's Husband Lee Chan-jin, Former Fortis CEO, Sued for Embezzlement of 4 Billion Won

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Lee Chan-jin, the husband of actress Kim Hee-ae and the developer of the Korean word processor 'Alae-a Hangeul,' has been sued on charges of embezzlement involving billions of won.


According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 1st, Yoon, the CEO of Fortis, an online sales specialist operator, filed a lawsuit on the 24th of last month against three former CEOs, including Lee. The charges involved embezzlement and breach of trust of company funds totaling approximately 4.2942 billion won.


Fortis stated, "We will take all necessary measures in accordance with legal procedures and will actively cooperate with investigations by relevant authorities."


Fortis is a KOSDAQ-listed company that started in 2006 as a digital set-top box specialist. Currently, it operates online shopping malls in the fashion sector. Lee purchased a 6.28% stake in Fortis in October 2014 and became CEO. He resigned in March 2017.


Meanwhile, Lee graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in mechanical engineering and developed the Korean word processor 'Alae-a Hangeul' in 1990. He married actress Kim Hee-ae three months after they met in 1996.
