That day, Jung Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun), who spotted Lee Gon (Lee Minho) riding a horse in Gwanghwamun, was baffled by Lee Gon's words: "I am the Emperor of the Korean Empire, and I came here after chasing a suspicious person through a dimensional space struck by thunder and lightning." Lee Gon was also taken aback by Jung Tae-eul's disbelief and rude behavior, saying, "Was your personality always like this?" Jung Tae-eul arrested Lee Gon for not presenting identification, violating traffic laws, and touching a police officer performing official duties.
While preparing Lee Gon's report, Jung Tae-eul told him to hand over all his belongings. When Lee Gon did not properly state his name or clearly reveal his identity, Jung Tae-eul took his fingerprints again.
In the detention center, Lee Gon saw social service worker Jo Eunseop (Woo Do-hwan) passing by and sent him a wistful look, saying, "Isn't that Young?" Jo Eunseop responded with a displeased expression, saying, "Wow, what a pain." When Jung Tae-eul explained, "He’s not a prince but the emperor. He can’t sit on the bare floor," Jo Eunseop finally understood.
Jung Tae-eul and Lee Gon went to a pawnshop to get money. When Lee Gon showed a button from his uniform to the appraiser, the appraiser marveled, "I've never seen such a delicate diamond." After Lee Gon sold the diamond for a high price, Jung Tae-eul suspiciously asked, "What is that diamond?" Lee Gon asked Jung Tae-eul to take care of his horse, Maximus, until he returns to his own world. Although very annoyed, Jung Tae-eul agreed, saying, "The horse is innocent."
Lee Gon discovered that the current era operates under a presidential system while reading books in the library. During his reading, he also received drinks from women. Jung Tae-eul took Lee Gon to a chicken restaurant. When Lee Gon did not eat, Jung Tae-eul asked, "Why aren’t you eating?" and Lee Gon replied, "I don’t eat food that isn’t seasoned."
He then said to Jung Tae-eul, "Thank you. It was less lonely because you were somewhere there. For 25 years." Jung Tae-eul stared blankly at Lee Gon, who tasted the chicken and exclaimed, "How can it taste like this? This is the first time I've had such a taste."
Meanwhile, Jo Young (Woo Do-hwan) chased the White Rabbit mentioned by Lee Gon and caught a man, but he was not the person Lee Gon had referred to. Then, while searching through a woman’s camera at the rowing stadium, he discovered Lee Rim (Lee Jung-jin).
Having spent all the money from selling the diamond, Lee Gon went to Jung Tae-eul’s house to find her. Lee Gon said, "You shouldn’t treat me like this. I’m very hurt. You’re the only person I know in this world." Jung Tae-eul advised, "You’re delusional right now. I’m serious?don’t act like this here. Go to the hospital quickly while you still have money from selling the diamond," adding, "You must have family, and they must be worried about you."
Lee Gon then asked, "Was that what you were curious about?" and said, "I’m still single. That means I have no immediate family. So I just made a very important decision." He continued, "I will take you as my empress. You just became the reason. The reason I’m bound to this world," making Jung Tae-eul even more frustrated.
SBS’s new drama "The King: Eternal Monarch" airs every Friday and Saturday at 10 PM.
