Australian imports of Korean skincare products rise 42.1%
Expands connections with local buyers and consumers
Kolmar Korea held more than 150 export consultations with its clients at a Korean Wave expo in Melbourne, Australia, generating estimated consultation sales of around KRW 6.8 billion. The company supported Korean cosmetics brands in expanding their overseas sales channels in Australia, where demand for K-beauty is growing.
Kolmar Korea said on November 8 that it had taken part in the 2026 Melbourne Korean Wave Expo, held from November 5 to 7 at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Australia, together with six client companies. Participants included Goodai Global (Round Lab), PAQUET (mixsoon), Merci Co. (Hubble Room), IUNIK, Gbest (Ninetales), and HK inno.N (Be Wants).
Around 110 companies took part in the expo. Kolmar Korea and its clients held more than 150 export consultations, accounting for over 10% of all consultations. The estimated value of the consultations was around KRW 6.8 billion.
Growth in Australia's K-beauty market is also evident. According to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Australia's imports of Korean skincare products totaled $147.7 million last year, up 42.1% from the previous year. Korea overtook France to become Australia's second-largest source of skincare imports. In the first half of this year, Korea's share of the import market stood at 19.5%, narrowing the gap with the United States, which ranked first, to 1.6 percentage points.
Kolmar Korea set up a K-beauty exhibition space in front of the venue's main entrance, showcasing sunscreens, essences, creams, sheet masks, and other products. It also ran a program where visitors could see the sun-protection effects firsthand and try five sun-care products. Around 30,000 people visited the two-day event for general consumers, with an estimated 15,000 of them stopping by Kolmar Korea's booth.
Kolmar Korea plans to use the expo to raise awareness of its clients' products in the local market and expand their connections with overseas buyers.

A Kolmar Korea representative said, "This expo was meaningful because it gave us the opportunity to showcase the competitiveness of K-beauty products directly to local buyers and consumers alongside our clients. Having seen the interest in the Australian market, we will continue to work with our clients to expand local sales channels and actively support K-beauty's global expansion."
