The training was organized as part of the K-High Tech Platform project to help residents use generative AI easily and conveniently in their daily lives.
The hands-on program focused on practical applications, including basic ChatGPT use, voice conversations using smartphones, and information searches. In particular, participants who complete the training and wish to continue learning will be offered a link to an advanced course on using PC-based AI tools through the K-High Tech Platform, giving them opportunities to learn in stages.
One neighborhood head who took part in the training said, "I had thought AI was difficult, but trying it myself showed me that it was easier to learn than I expected, which made it interesting." The participant added, "I would like to make active use of it to share notices with residents and find information they need."
Gimcheon City plans to incorporate participants' feedback from the pilot training into future programs and hold a second session on November 24 in conjunction with a meeting of neighborhood heads in Yulgok-dong. The city also plans to assess demand for training in other towns, townships, and neighborhoods and continue expanding its on-site AI training.
A Gimcheon City official said, "As the use of AI spreads across everyday life, it is important to ensure that everyone can benefit from the technology." The official added, "We will expand practical training in conjunction with meetings of local government bodies and organizations, and systematically improve residents' digital skills through the K-High Tech Platform."
