The ministry had originally planned to hold high-level talks between the government and Nvidia through the meeting. However, the meeting was canceled in full following the cancellation of Huang's visit.
Huang had been scheduled to visit South Korea to attend the "Nvidia AI Day Seoul 2026" event, which will be held at COEX in Seoul on November 9-10. The event will proceed as scheduled despite Huang's absence.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced the cancellation of the visit but did not disclose the specific reason. As reports said Huang canceled the trip for "family reasons," speculation has arisen that it may be linked to allegations reported recently by foreign media concerning her father, CEO Jensen Huang, and Chinese intelligence agencies.

They reportedly asked him to explain his relationship with Alice Huang, a Chinese American executive at Singaporean data company Megaspeed, who is suspected of spying for China.
The New York Times (NYT) previously reported that Alice Huang, who is affiliated with China's Ministry of State Security, gathered information about U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors and sought information from Jensen Huang to persuade Nvidia to supply China with cutting-edge semiconductors. However, it has not been confirmed whether the cancellation of Madison Huang's visit to South Korea is related to the allegations surrounding CEO Huang.
