The shopping center has long been cited as posing fire and collapse risks. Dust and noise from processing and distributing steel materials have also worsened living conditions in nearby residential areas.
The project site is in a station area along Siheung-daero, a gateway to southwestern Seoul. The mixed-use complex will include a large-scale retail store and neighborhood facilities, as well as a public sports facility provided as part of the project’s public contribution. The plan also takes into account the surrounding terrain, including Hoamsan Mountain, and development plans for adjacent areas. This review is part of the procedure for approving the project plan under the Special Act on the Promotion of Traditional Markets and Shopping Districts. Once approval is officially announced, the area will be designated as a redevelopment zone.
