"Turns Out He's a Stock Market Pro?" He Made Money Again Today... Park Yongjin Invests 10 Million Won Amid Market Rout
Bought 10 million won worth of shares amid the market plunge on the 6th
Up 3% intraday
Previously disclosed buying Samsung shares when they fell into the 50,000-won range
As the U.S. Democratic Party's sweeping victory in the midterm elections, dubbed the "blue wave," battered U.S. stocks and sent the KOSPI plunging on the 6th, Park Yongjin, vice chairman of the Presidential Committee on Regulatory Rationalization, disclosed that he had bought about 10 million won worth of KODEX 200. Park had previously disclosed that he personally bought shares when Samsung Electronics' stock fell into the 50,000-won range.
Park Yongjin, vice chair of the Presidential Committee on Regulatory Rationalization, bought ETFs worth about 10 million won on the 6th, when the KOSPI plunged more than 6%. His investment showed an unrealized gain of about 3% at one point during the session. In 2024, he also disclosed that he had bought shares when Samsung Electronics fell to the 50,000-won range.

He added, "Although the market is experiencing significant turbulence, I believe in the resilience of our economy and trust in the future of our market. I also believe the government will do its utmost to uphold confidence in our market."
128 shares at 78,330 won each... Up about 3% around noon
A screenshot of the transaction he shared showed that former lawmaker Park Yongjin bought 128 shares of KODEX 200 at 78,330 won per share. The actual purchase amount was 10,026,240 won. The transaction was timestamped at 10:49 a.m.
KODEX 200 had fallen sharply from 84,610 won the previous day, sliding to 76,460 won early in the session before paring its losses. By 11:44 a.m., it had recovered to 80,710 won.
Compared with Park's purchase price of 78,330 won, that was a gain of 2,380 won per share. Across all 128 shares, the unrealized gain was about 304,640 won, or approximately 3.04%. This is a simple calculation that excludes taxes, fees and other costs.

Earlier, on October 17, 2024, when Samsung Electronics' stock fell into the 50,000-won range, Park also disclosed his investment, saying, "I bought Samsung Electronics shares. The stock has been falling recently, and I bought some. It was my first stock purchase ever." He emphasized, "When everyone is talking about Samsung's crisis and criticizing Samsung Electronics, I want to show my faith in and support for Samsung instead."
Samsung Electronics closed at 59,700 won that day. Since the actual purchase price and number of shares Park bought were not disclosed, it is difficult to calculate his precise investment returns. However, using 59,700 won as the reference price, Samsung Electronics' share price of 193,700 won at 11:41 a.m. that day was up about 224.5%. Assuming he held all the shares he bought then without selling even one, his investment would have grown to about 3.24 times its original value, based on a simple calculation.
