Mirae Asset Securities said on November 6 that it had successfully held the final round and awards ceremony of the Global AI Festival 2026, an artificial intelligence (AI) competition for university students, in Shenzhen, China.

The event, held on November 5 under the direction of Mirae Asset Securities' Global Management Division, was jointly hosted by Mirae Asset Securities and Alibaba Cloud, with support from organizations including the Shenzhen Qianhai Authority and the Shenzhen Fintech Association.

The company said the competition was planned both to help build local momentum ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting, scheduled to take place in Shenzhen this month, and to provide a forum for young people from across Greater China to share ideas combining AI and finance.

From September 7 to 30, ideas were accepted in two categories, "AI + Brand" and "AI + Finance," from university and graduate students across Greater China. A total of 100 teams from China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region applied.

The 30 teams that passed the first-round review used Alibaba Cloud's AI development tool, Qoder, to develop their ideas and create websites, demonstration videos, and other materials. After a second-round review, six teams advanced to the final.

The top prize went to FindAlpha, a team from Peking University HSBC Business School. The team received high marks for M-TradingNote, an AI-powered trading journal app that links planning, execution, and review. The app lets investors record not only their trading results but also why they bought and sold, while AI reviews their trades and identifies recurring investment habits.

Second place went to Herguard, a joint team from universities in Hong Kong, and Mirae Lens, a team from New York University Shanghai. Herguard presented Mirae Alpha, which turns lengthy and complex Hong Kong IPO prospectuses into a one-page summary with linked sources. Mirae Lens unveiled a service that finds investment ideas in everyday products and connects them to long-term investing. The winning teams received a total of 170,000 yuan in prize money.

Kim Seunguk, head of Mirae Asset Securities' Global Management Division, said, "Financial innovation through AI starts with giving customers access to broader investment opportunities and making financial services more convenient. By connecting China's innovation ecosystem with Mirae Asset's global network, we will support the ambitions of young talent and create new customer value in line with the vision of 'Mirae Asset 3.0.'"
