Mayor Jo explained that the population is growing rapidly as occupancy in the Segyo 2 District gathers pace, making it urgent to expand roads, public safety and sewage treatment facilities.
In response, Lee said, "I will carefully review the issues you raised and actively cooperate wherever possible."
Seobu-ro is a major road connecting Osan with Suwon, Hwaseong and Pyeongtaek. Traffic on some sections has been restricted since a collapse occurred near Gajang Intersection in July last year. Mayor Jo also said the road crossing the Gyeongbu Line railway is needed to reconnect the road network severed by the railway and improve regional transportation conditions for Segyo 2 District and the planned Segyo 3 District.
Osan City requested 2.2 billion won to relocate and rebuild the Gweol-dong police substation, 4.4 billion won to build the Osan 3 Public Sewage Treatment Facility, and 5.8 billion won for the Jungbu 1-dongbu sewer pipeline improvement project. The current Gweol-dong police substation is located in a river zone, making expansion or reconstruction on the same site difficult. The Osan 3 Public Sewage Treatment Facility is intended to address the increase in sewage volumes resulting from population growth and the expansion of the sewage treatment area.
The total cost of the Jungbu 1-dongbu sewer pipeline improvement project rose by 8.3 billion won, from an initial 31.7 billion won to 40 billion won, due to factors including night construction and changes in construction methods. The city requested 5.8 billion won in national funding toward the increased project cost.
