Sangju City Council said it held the 139th monthly meeting of the Gyeongbuk Northern Region City and County Council Chairpersons' Association in the council's main conference room on November 5.

The meeting was organized by Sangju City Council and attended by the chairs of 11 city and county councils in the province, including Lee Seung-hoon, chair of the association and head of Bonghwa County Council, as well as relevant public officials.

Attendees shared key issues facing northern Gyeongbuk and discussed ways for cities and counties to cooperate for shared growth, along with joint development initiatives.

They also deliberated on key agenda items and explored ways to strengthen exchange and cooperation among councils to support the smooth conduct of legislative activities.

In his welcoming remarks, Sangju City Council Chair Ahn Chang-su said, "I thank the council chairs for visiting Sangju to promote shared regional growth despite their busy schedules," adding, "Through a substantive council chairs' association, let us work together to open an era of development and revival for northern Gyeongbuk."

The monthly meeting strengthened the foundation for council-level cooperation on shared regional issues and provided a forum for communication to promote shared growth across northern Gyeongbuk.

Balanced development in northern Gyeongbuk begins with cooperation among regions. The council chairs' association must become more than a venue for regular exchanges and establish itself as a practical focal point for resolving shared issues.
