The Beautiful Restroom Awards is an annual competition that recognizes outstanding examples at public institutions, transportation facilities, private facilities and other venues across the country, with the aim of establishing a clean and safe restroom culture. Winners are selected through a comprehensive evaluation of factors including comfort, convenience, safety, design and maintenance.
The restroom that received the Presidential Award this year was highly praised for a design that makes the most of its location in an airport. In particular, its wide floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of aircraft taking off and landing, creating a sense of openness rarely found in ordinary public restrooms. The interior features a clean, modern design that blends naturally with the distinctive atmosphere of an airport.

It is equipped with an accessible restroom, a family restroom and facilities for infants and toddlers, making it more convenient for both people with mobility needs and families traveling with young children.
Incheon International Airport Corporation continues to improve its facilities, viewing restrooms as places where airport users can directly experience the airport’s cleanliness and level of service. “Restrooms are a key point of contact where airport users directly experience cleanliness and service quality,” said Bae Youngmin, head of the Infrastructure Division at Incheon International Airport Corporation. “We will continue to improve our spaces and services from the users’ perspective to create an environment that everyone can use comfortably.”
