Dong-A University Renovates 'Sports Hall of Fame' for 80th Anniversary
Exhibition space created in the gymnasium at Seunghak Campus
Three themed zones: Legend, Chronicle, and Vision
To mark its 80th anniversary, Dong-A University has unveiled a newly designed digital exhibition space where visitors can explore the history and major achievements of university sports at a glance.
Dong-A University said on November 5 that it had completed renovations to the Sports Hall of Fame, located in the gymnasium at its Seunghak Campus, and held an opening ceremony on November 3.
The event was attended by President Lee Hae-woo, other senior university officials, faculty members from the departments of physical education and taekwondo, and sports team coaches and staff. The program included a report on the progress of the renovation, an introduction to the exhibition space, a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, and a tour of the venue.
The renovation focused on creating a digital archive-style space that goes beyond the previous photo- and nameplate-centered exhibition to systematically document the history, key figures, and achievements of Dong-A University sports, while allowing visitors to select the content they want to view.
The newly renovated Hall of Fame features three themed zones: the "Legend Zone," highlighting key figures; the "Chronicle Zone," featuring historical accounts from different eras and stories from alumni; and the "Vision Zone," introducing sports science research, student-athlete training, and the future vision for university sports.
The exhibition features a total of 54 pieces of content. The Legend Zone features short-form videos showcasing the achievements of 34 key figures who contributed to the development of Dong-A University sports. In the Chronicle Zone, visitors can watch four documentaries dividing the university's history, from its founding in 1946 to the present, into four periods, as well as four interviews with alumni from different eras.
The Vision Zone features 12 videos showing current students training, advanced sports science research, and the future direction of university sports.
Visitors can select and view content by person, era, or topic using 43-inch interactive kiosks installed in the exhibition hall. They can also scan QR codes attached to the exhibits to watch related videos on their personal mobile devices.
"This renovation is a meaningful achievement that systematically documents the history of Dong-A University sports and the dedication of its community members, so it can be passed on to future generations," said Woo Jinhee, head of the university's sports teams. "I hope students, alumni, parents, and visitors will experience the traditions of Dong-A University sports and its dynamic present in an even more vivid way."
