It is all the more meaningful to share the fruits of that effort with you today as National Assembly speaker."
He went on to emphasize ICAPP's role and the importance of party diplomacy. "Founded in 2000, ICAPP is an international forum for dialogue and cooperation where political parties across Asia have shared their wisdom and forged solidarity, overcoming differences in political systems, ideologies, and cultures," Cho said. "While serving as chair of the ICAPP Parliamentary Union, I engaged with political parties not only in Asia but also in Europe, Latin America, and Africa, and experienced firsthand the importance and potential of party diplomacy."
Regarding international affairs, he cited weakening trust in multilateralism and international norms, geopolitical conflicts, the climate crisis, and the sweeping transformation brought about by artificial intelligence (AI) as factors contributing to complex crises.
"Complex crises that no single country can resolve on its own are threatening the shared future of humanity. Trust is the starting point for peace and cooperation," Cho said. He added, "If political parties across Asia share their experiences and wisdom on a foundation of deep trust, they will be able to offer practical solutions to overcome international crises."
