Suh gave his girlfriend a shake in 2022, telling her it was a “special protein drink that’s good for pregnancy.” The drink, however, was mixed with Xanax, an anti-anxiety medication, and promethazine, an antihistamine with sedative effects.
“Drink it, it’s good for the baby”... Abortion medication administered while she was barely conscious
The woman, who was also a West Point cadet at the time, had been dating Suh since 2020. She reportedly wanted to have the baby after learning she was pregnant in 2022, while Suh wanted her to end the pregnancy. Court documents include allegations that he said he would take his own life if she did not end the pregnancy.
Investigators found that Suh appeared to support the pregnancy in public, but secretly used the woman’s identity to create an account with an online pharmacy and order abortion medication. He also obtained Xanax through an acquaintance, mixed it into the shake, and gave it to her.
When the woman said it tasted strange and hesitated to drink it, Suh allegedly held the bottle to her mouth and made her finish it, according to court documents. She later complained of extreme drowsiness and feeling unwell, and repeatedly lost and regained consciousness over several hours.

According to the lawsuit, while the woman was unable to remain fully conscious, Suh put abortion medication in her mouth and vagina. The woman said she found two pills in her mouth and spat them out, but Suh put them back in and told her, “Take them. They’re good for you.” She then began bleeding heavily and called 911 before being taken to a hospital. Medical staff determined that she was having a miscarriage and performed a procedure to remove tissue remaining in her uterus.
There were also indications that he tried to conceal what he had done. After the woman was taken to the hospital, Suh reportedly posted on an online pharmacy forum asking what to do if medical staff found medication remaining in her body. Suh later admitted in criminal proceedings that he had administered the drugs without the woman’s consent and that this had caused the miscarriage.
Continued his studies at Cornell and Columbia after the incident
During the criminal trial, it was also mentioned that Suh had been considered an outstanding cadet at West Point and was competing to become the cadet corps’ top-ranking leader, known as the “First Captain.”
The two broke up after the incident. Suh left West Point and transferred to Cornell University, where he continued his studies and graduated in May 2026. In September, he began a master’s program at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. Columbia reportedly did not know about Suh’s criminal case until recently, when contacted by the media. The university said it had taken “swift action” after learning of the case, but did not provide details.
Suh was indicted in federal court this year and is awaiting sentencing. Prosecutors are reportedly expected to seek a prison sentence of about two years. Sentencing was initially scheduled to take place before the end of 2026, but Suh’s lawyers asked to postpone it until January 2027 so that he could complete the semester at Columbia, and the court granted the request.
