Uijeongbu Libraries and Parks Become Public Design Stages... City Showcases Its Appeal at 19 Sites
Took Part in "Public Design Festival 2026"
Performances and Hands-On Programs Held at Nine Locations
Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Won-gi), said on Nov. 5 that it took part in the Public Design Festival 2026, held from Oct. 23 to Nov. 1, introducing public design spaces in the area and running performances and hands-on programs for residents.
Organized by the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, the festival was held at 230 locations nationwide under the theme “Public Design Connecting Communities and Everyday Life.”
In Uijeongbu, 19 locations, including outstanding public design spaces and major facilities, took part as festival hubs. Performances and hands-on programs were held at nine of them, including libraries and parks, giving residents the chance to enjoy culture in everyday spaces and experience public design.
The city identified public design hubs in the area, coordinated programs at each location, and introduced them to residents. Taking part in the nationwide event also provided an opportunity to showcase Uijeongbu’s public design spaces to people outside the city.
