Digital Daesung's Operating Profit Reaches KRW 52.7 Billion in First Three Quarters, Surpassing Last Year's Full-Year Total
Digital Daesung, an educational content platform company, has already exceeded its full-year operating profit and net profit from last year in just the first three quarters of this year. As profitability improves, led by Daesung MyMac, its online platform for college entrance exam courses, expectations are growing that the company will post its best-ever results since its founding.
Digital Daesung disclosed on November 4 that preliminary consolidated figures for the first three quarters of this year showed revenue of KRW 227.8 billion, operating profit of KRW 52.7 billion, and net profit of KRW 51.1 billion.
Compared with the same period last year, revenue rose 13.9%. Operating profit and net profit increased by 44.5% and 76.2%, respectively. With profit growth outpacing revenue growth, revenue, operating profit, and net profit for the first three quarters all reached record highs.
Operating profit for the first three quarters had already surpassed last year's full-year operating profit of KRW 31.6 billion. Net profit also reached KRW 51.1 billion, about twice last year's full-year figure of KRW 25.6 billion. Compared with operating profit of KRW 27.2 billion in the first three quarters of 2024, the figure has nearly doubled in two years.
Growth was led by Daesung MyMac, the company's online platform for college entrance exam courses. Its operating profit for the first three quarters doubled from the same period a year earlier. The company said that rising revenue, supported by its existing platform infrastructure and content, led to higher profits through operating leverage.
The company's boarding academy business also supported its results. Digital Daesung said its high school business division, including Daesung MyMac, the QUETTA boarding academy, and its medical school division, continued to grow steadily during the peak third quarter and drove its results.
The company also offered a positive outlook for next year's results. It said strong sales of the "2028 Daesung Pass," which has been on sale since October for students taking the 2028 college entrance exam, along with successful recruitment for its winter school programs at its boarding academies, demonstrated the strength of its brand and market demand.
Profit growth is also leading to greater shareholder returns. In September, Digital Daesung canceled 627,972 treasury shares, equivalent to 2.3% of its total issued shares. Since September 22, it has also been buying back KRW 10 billion worth of its own shares for cancellation.

"This year's results are only the middle stage of our growth cycle, not its peak," said Kim Heeseon, CEO of Digital Daesung. "As proven brands and competitive content become even more important during periods of change in the college entrance system, I am confident that next year we will once again surpass the record results we set this year." He added, "We will share the fruits of our growth with our shareholders through our shareholder return policy."
