INNOX Advanced Materials Begins Initial Mass Production of 'OCA' for Mobile OLED Displays
INNOX Advanced Materials said on November 5 that it would begin initial mass production of OCA (optically clear adhesive) for mobile OLED displays.
With this production launch, the company will expand its product offerings beyond the high-performance adhesive materials it already supplies for mobile OLED displays to protect panels from external impacts, adding OCA, which bonds the individual functional layers.
OCA is a key material that seamlessly bonds the functional layers making up OLED panels, such as display panels and cover windows, and improves optical performance by reducing light reflection and loss between layers. It must be designed to ensure high adhesion, flexibility, and resilience.
The market for OCA used in high-end mobile OLED displays has been dominated by a small number of global companies. INNOX Advanced Materials has succeeded in localizing production through its proprietary expertise in adhesive, coating, and film design.
Starting with initial OCA supplies for global high-end smartphone products, the company plans to expand supplies to high-end and premium product lineups, including foldable products, and increase its market share to 30% by 2028.
The company also plans to expand OCA applications to IT devices such as tablets, laptops, extended reality (XR) devices, and wearables, as well as to automotive OLED displays that require high reliability.
