3-minute-40-second video to debut at Shinsegae Square on Nov. 6
Featuring 3D anamorphic effects and a 60-member orchestra
Aiming to make Myeongdong a year-end hotspot
Shinsegae Department Store is getting ready to welcome year-end shoppers by unveiling a Christmas video on Shinsegae Square, the media facade on the exterior of its Main Store in Jung-gu, Seoul. Inside the department store, it will also create a festive atmosphere with a holiday market and events featuring its own character, Puuvilla.
Shinsegae Department Store announced on November 5 that it will premiere this year's Christmas video at Shinsegae Square at 5 p.m. on November 6. The video will be screened daily from 5 p.m. until midnight through January 31, 2027.
This year's video is titled "A Magical Journey to Deliver Christmas Wishes." Running for 3 minutes and 40 seconds, it tells the story of a bear who guards a post office and sends letters filled with wishes aboard a balloon ship. The bear arrives at an ice castle and completes a Christmas tree.
Using 3D anamorphic techniques, the video creates scenes that make it appear as though a bear is jumping out of the screen and waves are surging behind a glass wall. The soundtrack adds a carol melody to the fourth movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, "Choral." The video emphasizes its grandeur with a performance by a 60-member orchestra recorded in Vienna, Austria.
Inside the department store, the "Shinsegae Holiday Market" will expand this year. Now in its third season, the holiday market will add Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science and Centum City, bringing the total to four locations, including the existing Gangnam Store and Main Store.
The Gangnam Store market opened on October 30 and will run through December 28. Daejeon Shinsegae will host its market from November 13 to December 29, the Main Store from November 24 to December 31, and Centum City from November 27 to December 30. The markets will sell Christmas decorations, products from gift brands, and exclusive Shinsegae items, and offer tarot readings and caricature drawing. The Gangnam Store has created a brick-house-themed market and a tree-lined road.
