Certification is renewed every three years. The city has submitted a plan to address the facility improvements required under the conditional approval and expects to complete additional upgrades by April 2027.
Namwon Park Golf Course opened in 2022 with 18 holes. To meet rapidly growing demand for park golf and prepare to host various tournaments, the city began expanding the course in 2023, investing a total of KRW 2.4 billion to create a 36-hole facility. The expanded course held its opening ceremony on June 10, 2026.
In addition to existing amenities such as the clubhouse and parking lot, the course has added a 1,650-square-meter event space and 60 parking spaces, which are essential for hosting large-scale tournaments, further enhancing its capacity to stage national competitions.
Seogwipo City plans to use the certification to develop Namwon Park Golf Course into a leading park golf facility in the region and actively pursue opportunities to host national park golf tournaments.
The city also plans to go beyond promoting recreational sports by developing a range of sports tourism programs linked to local tourist attractions, with the aim of invigorating nearby businesses and the local economy.
