The DDP Classic Night, a nighttime cultural arts festival created by more than 150 professional artists and Seoul residents, will be held at 7 p.m. on November 5 at Oullim Plaza at Seoul’s Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
Andromeda Pictures, the event’s organizer, announced on November 4 that it would hold DDP Classic Night as part of a private-sector initiative promoted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to boost the nighttime economy.
DDP Classic Night is a participatory cultural arts festival where professional artists and residents take the stage together to present a variety of performances, including classical music, choral singing, a hanbok performance and a resident runway show. Residents from a range of generations, from children to adults, will take part in the performances.
Vocalists including tenor Yoo Hyunwook, baritone Choi Eunseok, and sopranos Jo Hyunae and Park Hyunjin will perform alongside choirs such as the Beldi Chorus and the children’s choir Ppeutti Boche Ensemble.
Hanbok designer Baek Geumja will take part in the hanbok performance and resident runway show. The performances will reinterpret the beauty of traditional Korean attire with a modern sensibility, set against the backdrop of DDP’s distinctive architecture.
The event will conclude with a finale choir performance featuring the performers and audience members singing together.
Artistic Director An Jueun said, “DDP Classic Night is a festival where residents do not remain in the audience but become the stars of the stage. We will support the children of Ppeutti Boche Ensemble as they gain experience singing alongside professional artists, so they can grow into a children’s performing arts group that introduces Korea to audiences around the world.”
