The county finished second in gateball, tennis and badminton in the adult division; gateball and tennis in the senior division; and the mixed division of Go.
It placed third in foot volleyball, volleyball, bowling, ssireum and hapkido in the adult division, and in archery in the senior division.
Geochang County's team included participants ranging from young people to seniors and achieved results across a variety of events, demonstrating the broad local base for participation in sports for all.
In particular, Geochang County received the "Sports 7330 Award" for its contribution this year to expanding participation in and promoting sports for all. Sports 7330 is a campaign encouraging people to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, at least three times a week.
Promotional activities to showcase Geochang County's main tourist attractions were also held at the opening ceremony on October 30, the first day of the festival.
The Geochang County team entered with a banner introducing nine of the region's leading tourist attractions and reading "Geochang Haguna 9 Gyeong Gase." It also promoted local destinations, including Geochang Changpowon, South Gyeongsang Province's first local garden; the Y-shaped suspension bridge; and Gamaksan Star Wind Hill.
The promotion aimed to introduce Geochang's tourist attractions to athletes from cities and counties across the province and other festival officials. It was significant as a local promotional effort linked to a sporting event.
Geochang County Governor Lee Honggi said, "I would like to thank the athletes and officials who gave their best during the festival. We will continue to expand sports facilities and support the promotion of sports for all so that every resident can enjoy them in their daily lives."
Geochang County plans to build on its results at the festival by expanding opportunities to participate in different sports for all and continuing to support sports activities to improve residents' health.
