V-One Tech Subsidiary Syscon Robotics Wins 3.4 Billion Won Order for Semiconductor Processing Automation
V-One Tech subsidiary Syscon Robotics has expanded its business into new areas by winning an order for an automation system for semiconductor material processing. Moving beyond its existing autonomous mobile robot (AMR) business, which has focused on logistics transport, the company has entered the market for automating production equipment operations using robotic arms.
V-One Tech said on November 4 that Syscon Robotics had signed a contract worth approximately 3.4 billion won with Company A, a specialist in semiconductor components and materials, to supply a “Machine Tending Robot (MTR) System for Automating Semiconductor Material Processing.”
The core of the project is to automate not only the transport of materials but also the tasks of loading materials into processing equipment and retrieving finished products. The system replaces workers with robots for the processes of loading and unloading the equipment.
Syscon Robotics will supply a mobile robot system that combines an AMR with a robotic arm and a dedicated gripper. The robot will navigate autonomously between material storage and processing equipment, loading unprocessed materials into the equipment and retrieving finished products. The goal is to build a single automation system covering the entire process, from material storage and transport to processing and retrieval.
The system will also incorporate V-One Tech’s artificial intelligence (AI)-based vision and decision-making technologies. These technologies will be used to identify material positions and adapt to changing on-site conditions, thereby improving the precision and reliability of the robot’s operations.
The control system will dispatch robots based on task priorities and the status of equipment and robots, while adjusting travel routes and task sequences. It will also link work instructions and transport results with the customer’s higher-level business system and processing equipment.
The order is significant because it marks Syscon Robotics’ expansion beyond logistics transport into machine tending, in which robots perform tasks on actual production equipment. The company plans to standardize the material-handling, robotic-arm operation, equipment-interface and control technologies developed through this project, and expand their application to similar semiconductor material and component processing processes and precision machining industries.
V-One Tech also plans to strengthen its business competitiveness by combining its existing inspection- and vision-focused manufacturing automation technologies with Syscon Robotics’ mobile and robotic automation capabilities. Going forward, the company plans to expand its offerings into manufacturing process automation solutions that integrate inspection, transport and robotic operations by linking AI-based vision and decision-making technologies with machine tending robots.
