Seongnam City, led by Mayor Shin Sang-jin, said on November 4 that it would operate the Seongnam Pavilion, its own exhibition space, at the 2026 Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC 2026), taking place in Barcelona from November 3 to 5.

Launched in 2011, the event is an international exhibition where cities, companies and research institutions from around the world share smart city technologies and policies. This year’s theme is “Urban Solutions, Real Impact.”

At its 120-square-meter pavilion, Seongnam City will showcase projects including the development of core artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) technologies, the promotion of a specialized future mobility city, and the creation of smart villages.

Nine organizations, including the Korea Electronics Technology Institute and local companies, will participate in the Seongnam Pavilion. Newbility will present autonomous mobile robots, DariSoft a road hazard information service, and MagpieSoft an AI disaster response platform. Sleno, AutoL, Intellivix, ZastecM and Fluxity will also exhibit technologies including Internet of Things networks, lidar, AI control systems, in-vehicle devices and digital twins.

The participating companies will meet with overseas buyers to explore export and business partnership opportunities. The city will provide support for part of the costs of booth rental and installation and shipping exhibition materials, as well as on-site interpretation and promotion and buyer consultations.

After winning the top prize in the mobility category at last year’s World Smart City Awards, Seongnam City will also deliver a presentation at an official session this year. Cha Gwangseung, the city’s director of the AI Innovation Bureau, is scheduled to speak on November 4 at the session “Making Next-Generation Public Transport a Reality,” where he will introduce people-centered future mobility policies and key examples.

Last year, Seongnam City won the top award in the mobility category for “Human Centered MaaS.”

“Through this exhibition, we will showcase the outstanding technological capabilities of local companies to the world and actively support their entry into overseas markets,” Mayor Shin Sang-jin said. “We will widely promote Seongnam’s model of a smart city where people and technology exist in harmony and expand opportunities for global cooperation.”
