The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Kim Seongbo, Second Vice Mayor of Seoul, met with Konradin Kramer, governor of Basel-Stadt, in Basel, Switzerland, on November 3 (local time) to discuss ways to cooperate in urban architecture.
The meeting was a follow-up exchange under an agreement on cooperation in urban architecture signed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Basel-Stadt last year. From November 2 to 6, the two sides shared updates on the “2026 Seoul-Switzerland Architect Exchange Program” and discussed ways to collaborate at the 6th Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism in 2027.
At 7 p.m. that day, Vice Mayor Kim attended the “Seoul-Basel Architects Public Forum” at kHaus in Basel and delivered welcoming remarks. At the forum, organized jointly by Basel-Stadt and the Swiss arts foundation Pro Helvetia, architects from Seoul and Basel shared their work experiences and concerns with members of the public and architecture professionals.
Architects Jung Sangkyung, Baek Hanyeol, and Hong Jeonghui presented on behalf of Seoul, while Magdalena Stadler and Miriam Stierle represented Basel. The presenters shared the architectural challenges and experiences they had encountered in their respective cities, focusing on topics including urban identity and continuity, social sustainability, and public spaces.
