Korea Zinc Selects Baek Hyun and Yun Irang for Metal Craft Artist of the Year Award
Each recipient to receive 10 million won
Special exhibition to run Dec. 1-6
Korea Zinc announced on November 3 that it had selected artists Baek Hyun and Yun Irang as the final recipients of the 2026 Metal Craft Artist of the Year Award.
The Metal Craft Artist of the Year Award was established in 2013 to support the creative activities of talented metal craft artists and promote the development of metal craft in Korea. Korea Zinc has supported the award for 14 years and has organized it directly since 2023.
This year, the competition was open to metal craft and jewelry artists aged 45 or younger who are South Korean nationals. After reviewing applications and portfolios and conducting interviews, the judging committee selected two final recipients.
Baek Hyun has created works featuring striking organic curves using traditional sheet-metal forming techniques. Yun Irang has presented works that combine restrained sculptural beauty with practicality, drawing on refined technical skills. Both artists were recognized for carrying on the value of traditional metal craft while continually exploring contemporary forms.
Korea Zinc will award each artist 10 million won and provide an opportunity to exhibit in a special exhibition. The awards ceremony and the special exhibition's opening ceremony will be held on December 1 at YEOUL in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The exhibition will be open to the public through December 6.
