"Our definition of an artificial intelligence (AI) agent is something that helps people start again."
Jo Sewon, CEO of Weverse Brain, made the remarks while unveiling the AI agent platform AgentMAX for the first time at a press conference during the "Weverse Brain 2027 Tech Day," held on November 3 at EL Tower in Yangjae-dong, Seoul. He explained that AI cannot make people's decisions for them, but it should motivate people to act on their own and guide them toward taking action.
Edtech company Weverse Brain is expanding into the AI solutions market with AgentMAX. The company plans to reorganize its business structure by moving beyond its existing language education business and ramping up its AI agent business, which aims to influence consumers' purchasing decisions.
Jo delivered a keynote address on the theme "Beyond Conversation, AI That Drives Action." He divided the development of voice AI technology into three generations. The first generation involved technology that recognizes what people say, and the second involved technology that can hold natural conversations. The third generation, he explained, is agent technology that initiates conversations and prompts people to take action.

At its core is EDRA, an action-design engine. It identifies users' psychology and circumstances through a process of empathy, diagnosis, reframing, and breaking goals into smaller actions, then prompts them to take real-world action.
The event also featured demonstrations of AI agents developed using AgentMAX. Max Tutor called learners at their scheduled times to encourage them to practice English conversation. MAX Sales, designed for sales, was also introduced. Kim Minsam, Chief AI Officer (CAIO), demonstrated the product consultation and purchasing process for VIAGGIO, an electric bicycle brand. An AI sales representative powered by MAX Sales explained the product's features and price, provided comparisons with competing products, and guided Kim through the purchase.
Weverse Brain plans to expand its AgentMAX business in three stages. First, it will apply the technology to its own education and sales services and validate it. Then, it will supply the technology to external companies. Finally, it aims to develop it into an AI agent solution that can be used across various industries.
