According to Jecheon City on November 2, Joo Wooseong, 34, and Jin Euna, 33, will receive benefits worth a total of KRW 307.48 million through various city and government policies on childbirth and child-rearing.

The couple welcomed their first twin boys, Siwan and Sion, in February last year, and gave birth to another set of twin boys, Sihyeon and Sihun, in February this year. In the span of a year, they became parents to four sons.

The probability of naturally conceiving and giving birth to two sets of twins in succession, known as “overlapping twins,” is said to be about one in 100,000. The couple will first receive KRW 106 million through Jecheon City’s childbirth and population policy, the “3 Kwaehan Housing Fund Support” program.

When combined with support from the central and local governments, including the First Meeting Voucher, childbirth and child-rearing allowances, child allowances, parental benefits, and allowances for families with multiple children, the total benefits the children can receive before they turn 9 will exceed KRW 300 million.

Jecheon City and Cheongjeon-dong community organizations also gave the couple KRW 700,000 in congratulatory money and eight boxes of diapers. Jecheon Mayor Lee Sangcheon met the couple in his office on October 30 to congratulate them on the birth.

“The four healthy babies are a great joy and a cause for celebration for Jecheon,” Mayor Lee said. “We will spare no effort in providing support that families with multiple children can truly feel.”
