"Turning Movement into AI Data"... MOVIN Raises 10 Billion Won in Series A Funding
Expanding into robotics, live performances, sports, and rehabilitation
Led by IMM Investment, with IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, Voyager Ventures, and others participating
Technology startup MOVIN, which converts human movement into 3D data, has raised 10 billion won in Series A funding. The company plans to expand motion-capture technology, previously used in content production for films and games, into physical AI fields such as robot training and teleoperation.
A MOVIN representative said on November 3, "The investment was led by IMM Investment, with IBK Industrial Bank of Korea and Voyager Ventures participating." Existing investors Atinum Investment, NAVER D2SF, and Schmidt also took part in the follow-on investment. MOVIN previously raised 4 billion won in a pre-Series A round last year.
Capturing movement without suits... Overseas sales account for 70%
Founded in 2023, MOVIN develops technology that converts human movement into precise 3D data. Its flagship product, MOVIN TRACIN, combines LiDAR (a sensor that measures distance and space using lasers) with proprietary AI technology to capture movement in real time.
Traditional motion-capture systems often require people to wear special suits or markers and multiple cameras to be installed. MOVIN, by contrast, has developed technology that tracks movement without suits or markers, reducing the time and cost required to set up equipment. According to MOVIN, the company generated 1 billion won in global sales within a year of launching MOVIN TRACIN, with overseas sales accounting for 70%.
Expanding applications from robot teleoperation to performances and sports
MOVIN has recently expanded its business into robotics. Technology that converts human movement into data can also be used to teach robots how to move or to operate them remotely. According to MOVIN, global robotics companies and research institutions, including Boston Dynamics and the RAI Institute, have used its technology for robot teleoperation and training. Its robot-training solution, MOVIN TRACIN R1, is also being used in partner environments.
The company is also expanding into areas such as performances and sports. At the 2026 NAB Show, held in the United States in April, it unveiled MOVIN TRACIN STAGE, which simultaneously tracks the movements of multiple performers. It also demonstrated integration with content-production technologies such as Disguise and Notch. MOVIN plans to expand its business beyond live performances into sports and rehabilitation.
MOVIN plans to use the investment to advance its technology and expand its overseas business. In particular, it aims to adapt its existing single-person motion-capture technology for use in large spaces where multiple people move simultaneously, and to broaden its applications by combining it with ultra-lightweight devices and on-device multimodal AI technology.
Building research facilities to collect data from real-world environments
MOVIN will also expand its research and development infrastructure. It plans to establish an R&D center covering approximately 100 pyeong to collect data on human movement and surrounding environments in a range of real-world settings. The company aims to advance the data-processing technology needed to develop AI models that learn about movement and physical environments in the real world.
"MOVIN has generated revenue in the content-production market while building a track record of technology applications in robotics," said Kim Hongchan, a managing director at IMM Investment. "We highly value its motion-data technology, which can be applied in diverse environments, and its potential to expand its global business."

"We are moving beyond an era in which AI understands text and images and into one in which it understands and learns from movement in the real world," said MOVIN CEO Choi Byeoli. "We will continue to grow our existing content and entertainment businesses while building the motion-data infrastructure needed for the era of physical AI."
