The city aims to obtain approval for the project plan and begin main construction in August 2027, after completing the detailed design for the main works and the necessary administrative procedures.
“After a long wait of 17 years, the Dongtan tram, a long-cherished wish of our citizens, is finally breaking ground,” Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeonggeun said that day. “I sincerely thank everyone who trusted in the project and waited for it.”
After completing reviews of the technical proposal and the detailed design documents for the priority construction section, the city selected the DL E&C Consortium as the qualified bidder for the detailed design and signed a construction contract for the priority section.
The priority construction section involves preparatory work to establish the site conditions needed for the main construction. Over 120 days from the start of construction, temporary facilities, including a site office and a temporary fence around the vehicle depot, will be installed. The DL E&C Consortium will also carry out the detailed design for the main construction over eight months. The city plans to complete the design and related administrative procedures before proceeding with the main construction.
