Busan-Based Samjin Eomuk Moves Seomyeon Branch to Department Store's B2 After 12 Years
First relocation since opening in 2014
Moves into deli zone and begins selling fish cakes served in broth
Samjin Eomuk's Seomyeon branch, one of Busan's best-known fish cake shops, has moved to the second basement level of a department store. Its new location in the deli zone, where customers come for meals and convenience foods, has also led to changes in the store layout.
Samjin Foods, led by CEO Park Yongjun, announced on November 2 that it had reopened its Samjin Eomuk Seomyeon branch at Lotte Department Store's Busan Main Branch following renovations on October 30. The store, which first opened in 2014, has moved from the department store's first basement level to the deli zone on the second basement level. The move follows a reorganization of the department store's retail space.
The company said the new store is smaller than before, but its sales area has been organized by product category. Chilled fish cakes, deli products, steamed fish cakes and fish cakes served in broth are arranged in one space, with a streamlined layout from product selection to checkout.
The store carries 28 products in total: five hot deli items, nine regular fish cake products, three fish cakes served in broth, five chilled packaged products, one multipack and five shelf-stable products. It also sells merchandise and gift sets.
The store has also started selling fish cakes served in broth, which were not available there before. The Seomyeon branch is offering its “Handmade Assorted Skewered Fish Cakes in Broth.” The menu was added as part of the move to the department store's deli zone, providing customers with an easy-to-eat option.
Promotions are also being held to mark the reopening. Until November 15, three packaged fish cake varieties - seafood, vegetable and spicy - are 30% off. Customers who spend at least 20,000 won will receive a reusable shopping bag.
