Sensorview Selected to Lead KRW 9.2 Billion Government-Funded Project... Developing 6G Platform for Physical AI
Sensorview, a company specializing in radio frequency (RF) solutions, announced on November 2 that it had been selected to lead a KRW 9.2 billion government-funded project for physical AI and future robotics. The company will work with researchers from Purdue University and the University of California San Diego (UCSD) to develop an AI-based 6G wireless communications platform.
The project is part of the 2026 Global Industrial Technology Cooperation Center (GITCC) Program, launched by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, with the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) serving as the program’s specialized agency. The total project budget is KRW 9.2 billion, including KRW 8 billion in government funding. Titled “An AI-Native 6G Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Platform for Physical AI and Future Robotics,” the project aims to integrate AI into the design and operation of wireless communications and develop core communications technologies for multiple robots and autonomous systems.
Researchers led by Robert Heath, a UCSD professor and expert in wireless communications, and David Love, a professor at Purdue University, will participate as research partners. Sensorview plans to combine its expertise in high-frequency RF and antenna design and manufacturing with the universities’ expertise in next-generation wireless communications to develop and validate the platform’s performance.
The project’s main focus is enabling physical AI to respond actively to changing environments. Physical AI requires wireless communications technology that can maintain connectivity while reducing power consumption, even when movement and nearby obstacles cause communication conditions to change frequently. The company and its research partners will develop an AI-native 6G platform based on MIMO technology, which transmits and receives data using multiple antennas, to improve both communications performance and energy efficiency.
Sensorview plans to develop AI-based intelligent antennas and high-efficiency RF modules, and validate communications performance using digital twin technology to recreate the characteristics of industrial sites in a virtual space. Key development targets include achieving approximately three times the energy efficiency of existing 5G communications systems, improving maximum beam gain by 70%, and increasing spectral efficiency by 80%. The project also aims to achieve communications reliability of at least 99.99% and latency of 10 ms or less in environments where multiple robots operate simultaneously.
As the lead institution, the company will oversee the overall research and development and lead prototype development and commercialization based on its high-frequency RF and antenna technologies. It will focus on securing fundamental technologies for next-generation 6G wireless communications through collaboration with overseas research partners and translating research results into actual products and systems.
