Namhae County Moves Forward with Sinjeon Forest Garden Project... Full-Scale Work to Begin in 2027
Detailed design work to begin this year... preserving forest ecology and linking it with Anggang Bay's coastal scenery
Nature-friendly garden to be created using existing walking paths and facilities
Namhae County in South Gyeongsang Province is moving forward with a project to turn Sinjeon Forest in Sinjeon-ri, Idong-myeon, into a garden.
The county said it plans to commission a detailed design this year for a garden development project that will preserve the existing forest environment of Sinjeon Forest while linking it with the coastal scenery of nearby Anggang Bay, and to begin full-scale implementation in 2027.
The project aims to create a garden space where residents and tourists can enjoy both the forest and the sea while preserving Sinjeon Forest's natural landscape and ecological characteristics.

In particular, rather than installing large-scale structures, the project will focus on improving the visitor experience while preserving the existing trees, terrain, and natural landscape.
The garden development plan will incorporate not only garden spaces within Sinjeon Forest but also views of Anggang Bay and the surrounding coastal scenery.
The plan is to create a landscape that connects the forest and the coast and develop Sinjeon Forest into a garden space that makes use of the area's natural resources.
Namhae County will pursue the project in line with its vision for county administration, "Namhae, an Island of Gardens Where Life Blossoms," and plans to use Sinjeon Forest as a local garden tourism resource in the future.
However, the project's specific scale, facility layout, and budget will be reviewed during the detailed design process. A development plan that takes the forest's ecological characteristics and surrounding landscape into account will also be needed.
A Namhae County official said, "We will create a garden space that residents and tourists can enjoy while preserving Sinjeon Forest's existing ecological environment and natural landscape," adding, "We plan to proceed with the project next year after completing the detailed design this year."
The key to the Sinjeon Forest garden development project is to preserve the existing forest's ecological value while linking it with the coastal scenery of Anggang Bay.
