Secured 2.2 Billion Won in National Funding Through Disaster and Safety Special Grant Tax
Snow-Removal Response Center to Operate from Mid-November
To prevent traffic accidents and vehicle congestion caused by icy roads this coming winter, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province will invest 2.27 billion won, including funding from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Disaster and Safety Special Grant Tax, to install additional road heating cables along 2,210 meters across five sections of roads in the province that are prone to icing, including the road leading to Jeju Airport. Construction is scheduled to be completed by November.

The project will cost a total of 2.27 billion won. The province secured 2.2 billion won of that amount, most of the total, in national funding through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Disaster and Safety Special Grant Tax in May.
The province has completed reviews by the construction-method selection committee and the detailed design, and began construction this month. It plans to finish all installation work by next month, before the onset of severe winter cold.
In addition, to respond swiftly to sudden heavy snowfall in winter, the province will fully operate its snow-removal response center from November 15, 2026, to March 15, 2027.
