According to Focus AI on October 30, unlike typical memorandums of understanding (MOUs), which only outline general intentions, the agreement finalizes algorithm porting and validation, system integration, cooperation on chip supplies for mass production, and field testing.

Focus AI will design and manufacture the AI servers and optimize its own AI video analysis algorithms for DeepX’s NPUs. DeepX will verify that the optimized algorithms run reliably on its NPUs, provide technical support for product integration, and supply chips for mass production. The two companies plan to expand the products’ market applications after field testing at public-sector and industrial sites.

The companies plan to start with a model for small businesses and gradually expand the product lineup to suit businesses of different sizes. The servers will come equipped with AI algorithms in high demand at work sites, including object recognition, people counting, safety monitoring such as fall and fire detection, and crowd-density analysis.

“Beginning mass-production cooperation with a domestic finished-product company in the video security sector shows that the application of Korean-made AI semiconductors in real products and their commercialization are expanding,” said Kim Nokwon, CEO of DeepX.

“This agreement is not just a declaration; it is a commitment to mass production with a shipping schedule in place,” said Koo Hyungmo, CEO of Focus AI. “We will put our own hardware and validated algorithms on Korean-made NPUs and begin supplying Korean-made AI servers to the market in December.”
