On October 29, Yonhap News Agency reported on a Mongolian migrant worker who spotted a worker dangling in midair after his safety harness snapped on the exterior wall of an apartment building and rushed over without hesitation to save his life with his bare hands.

A man working on the building’s exterior wall was left dangling from a railing 14 floors above the ground when his safety harness snapped. It was a life-or-death moment: he could have fallen and lost his life at any moment. Just then, Zandanbat, who was carrying moving boxes at an apartment building across the way, heard an urgent cry for help: "Please save me!"
Zandanbat turned and spotted the man dangling precariously high above the ground. He immediately stopped what he was doing, looked for a way to rescue him, and ran to the apartment building where the accident had occurred. First, Zandanbat asked the residents to open the door so he could get inside. The door did not open at first, but after he repeatedly called for help, one resident let him in, and he headed straight for the balcony.
The rescue was not easy. Zandanbat grabbed the man with one hand, but he was not strong enough to pull up the body of an adult man hanging high above the ground. The man’s left hand was also caught on an outdoor air-conditioning unit, making it difficult for Zandanbat to get a proper grip. Recalling the situation, Zandanbat said, "His left hand was caught on the outdoor unit, so I couldn’t grab it," adding, "He was really scared, too, and had no strength in his hands."
It was a tense situation: if Zandanbat lost his grip, the man could fall. But he did not give up. In halting Korean, he repeatedly reassured the terrified man, saying, "Please trust me. I’ll hold on to you and pull you up." After holding on desperately to keep the man from falling, he eventually managed to pull him onto the balcony. "I thought he really would fall if I didn’t help him quickly," Zandanbat recalled.

"Most people would just call 119 and leave it at that, but he saw someone dangling across the way while he was working, ran over, and rescued him," the owner said. The man who narrowly escaped death reportedly met with Zandanbat again about a week after the accident to express his gratitude.
