View original imageThe National Heritage Administration announced on October 30 that it will make recordings collected during surveys of intangible heritage, non-designated intangible heritage, and folk materials from the 1970s through the early 2000s available on "Muhyeong Yusan Jisik Saegim."
The audio records, which include "Mountain Beliefs in the Pyeongchang Region," contain intangible heritage and local folk traditions documented in the field at the time of the surveys. By listening directly to sounds from the field that are difficult to capture through written records alone, users can examine patterns of transmission and local ways of life.

For listeners' convenience, the National Heritage Administration added explanatory materials (metadata) detailing the year each recording was made, related heritage categories and individuals, and survey findings. It also divided the recordings into sections and created an index of 10,395 entries, with timestamps and subtitles. Users can go directly to a section they want to hear without having to play a long recording from the beginning.
