The panel was formed to incorporate the voices of young practitioners involved in passing down intangible heritage into policy. It aims to address the aging of practitioners in the field and the risk of transmission being interrupted.

In June, the Korea Heritage Service recruited applicants across three fields - heritage transmission, industry and content, and academia and research - and selected 11 members. They include Kim Minseo, chair of the Goje Geomungo Sanjo Research Association; Kim Taeho, adjunct professor in the Department of Folk Arts and Dance at Gyeongsang National University; Park Sihyun, a certified practitioner of Hakyeonhwadaehapseolmu; Yoo Taepyeongyang, a certified practitioner of pansori; Lee Myeongseon, head of the curatorial department at the Korea Institute for Traditional Art Convergence; Lee Jongchan, a certified practitioner of tile-making; Lee Juin, a member of the Creative Music Group at the National Gugak Center; Jeong Gwangyeol, a certified practitioner of mother-of-pearl inlay; Jeong Daeun, a certified practitioner of Seodo Sori; Jo Namhun, a certified practitioner of gagok; and Hwang Yutaek, a creative director.

Over the next two years, the panel members will offer input and help develop related policies in three areas: transmission and education, industry and utilization, and popularization and promotion. The perspectives of younger generations, including on digital transformation and the convergence of cultural content, will also be reflected in policy.
