"Gifticon Gift Turns Into a Nightmare" SK Planet Data Breach... Scope Under Investigation
There are signs that users' personal information was leaked from SK Planet's Gifticon service.
SK Planet said on Oct. 29 that it detected signs of abnormal external access at around 6:40 p.m. on Oct. 28 and blocked it.
So far, the leaked information appears to include the names, phone numbers, email addresses, purchase coupon serial numbers, and refund account details of some Gifticon users. SK Planet is investigating to determine the exact scope of the leak and which customers were affected.
Once the investigation is complete, SK Planet plans to inform customers individually by text message and through a notice on its website about how to check whether they were affected. Gifticons confirmed to have been leaked will be canceled and reissued. The company also plans to provide full compensation if customers suffer actual losses.
SK Planet urged customers not to click links from unknown sources or respond to messages asking them to provide personal or financial information.
