She had been indicted on charges of theft, defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, and violating the Personal Information Protection Act.
A was sent to trial on charges of posting on Instagram and Threads in August 2025 that Park had been introducing women to her ex-husband since 2020, causing her family to fall apart. At the time, A stole her ex-husband’s cellphone and passport, then posted claims to this effect on her social media two days later.
The court explained its sentencing, saying, “The consequences of the crimes are serious, and she has prior convictions resulting in fines for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. She has not been forgiven by the victims, who are seeking severe punishment.” The court added, “We have taken into account in her favor that she has no prior criminal punishment exceeding a fine and that she now admits to all the crimes and says she regrets them.”
