The county also plans to connect small gardens throughout the region, centered around the flagship garden and the themed gardens in each town and township, so that tourists can visit multiple areas.
Governor Ryu also outlined plans to link the gardens with tourism, accommodation and experiential programs to encourage visitors to stay longer, and to help tourism spending boost local incomes.
He also stressed the need for residents to participate in the creation of the garden city and explained ways to manage and make use of gardens in a way that reflects the characteristics of each area.
“The interest and participation of county residents are important to creating a garden city that makes use of Namhae’s natural environment,” Governor Ryu said. “Together with residents, we will create a garden city that showcases the character of each area.”
Seomyeon Senior College runs educational and leisure programs every Wednesday, including singing classes, health exercise and special lectures.
