[Conference Call] Samsung Electronics: "Semiconductor Industry Strength to Continue Next Year... Expect Results to Surpass This Year"
Samsung Electronics expects the semiconductor industry's growth momentum to continue next year as investment in artificial intelligence (AI) expands, and anticipates posting results that surpass this year's performance.
At a conference call on its third-quarter earnings on October 29, Samsung Electronics said, "In 2027, we expect the semiconductor industry to remain strong, supported by continued AI investment and supply constraints. Thanks to strong growth momentum, we expect to post results that surpass those of 2026, while the Device eXperience (DX) Division is likely to continue facing profitability pressures from rising costs and other factors."
By business division, the Device Solutions (DS) Division is expected to drive growth. Samsung Electronics said, "Robust AI investment is expected to drive memory demand well above supply, while growth in foundry will also accelerate." Regarding its memory business, the company said, "As investment in AI infrastructure continues to expand, we will lead the HBM market by increasing sales of HBM4 and beginning mass production of HBM4E. At the same time, we will strengthen our sales focus on high-value-added products such as high-performance DDR5 and high-capacity enterprise solid-state drives (eSSDs), and reinforce our memory leadership through superior technological competitiveness."
Regarding the System LSI and Foundry businesses, the company added, "System LSI will focus on securing new customers for custom system-on-chip (SoC) products and diversifying applications such as sensors beyond mobile. Foundry will accelerate growth through the start of operations at our Taylor fab in the United States and the full-scale ramp-up of mass production of 2-nanometer products for AI and high-performance computing (HPC)."
The Samsung Display (SDC) Division plans to strengthen its market leadership by expanding sales of premium products such as foldables and growing its OLED business for IT products, based on its 8.6-generation production line.
