Hanil Cement Ranks No. 1 in Three Korean Standard-Quality Excellence Index Categories, Drives Construction Innovation With Specialty Cement
Enhancing Ease of Construction with Specialty Cement and Cold-Resistant Concrete
Hanil Cement said on Oct. 29 that it ranked first in three categories of the 2026 Korean Standard-Quality Excellence Index (KS-QEI), with its technological capabilities recognized for addressing challenges at construction sites, including shortening construction schedules, improving workability, and ensuring construction quality across seasons.

Hanil Cement has won the award for 17 consecutive years in the Portland cement category, 18 consecutive years in the dry mortar category, and seven consecutive years in the ready-mixed concrete category.
In the cement category, the company is pursuing product differentiation centered on its specialty cement brand HI-CEM. Its product lineup includes high-early-strength, slag, masonry, and low-heat cement, addressing on-site needs such as shorter construction schedules, reduced carbon emissions, and improved workability. At its Danyang plant, industrial drones equipped with AI software precisely measure raw material inventory and inspect the interiors of facilities and elevated pipelines that are difficult for workers to access.
The company has added smart construction technology to the development of its dry mortar brand Remital. A patent granted this year for an "AI-Based Mobile Silo System" covers technology that uses AI to adjust the amount of water mixed into mortar in real time based on temperature and humidity, and automatically calculates pumping pressure according to the height of the building being poured. The technology can reduce quality variations caused by manual operation, and the company plans to pursue commercialization in the future.
In the ready-mixed concrete category, the company addresses seasonal construction challenges with "cold-resistant concrete" and "extended-retention concrete," co-developed with Hanil Industrial. Cold-resistant concrete achieves strength that meets safety standards even at temperatures as low as minus 10°C. Extended-retention concrete maintains its workability for up to three hours even during heat waves averaging 35°C, making long-distance transportation and continuous pours at large-scale construction sites possible.
